Safety Tips for Students and Tutors

Safety Tips for Students:

  • When you find a Tutor contact him or her via email.
  • Ask for references.
  • Do a Google search for more information.
  • Search the web to find out if your Tutor is on Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, or other Social Networks.
  • Arrange the first meeting in a public place.
  • Spend time talking with and getting to know your Tutor.
  • If you are employing a Tutor for your child, make sure that your child has a chance to get to know and feel comfortable with their Tutor.
  • Trust you instincts.  Only employ a Tutor with whom you feel comfortable.

Safety Tips for Tutors:

  • Do not give out more personal information than necessary (Email addresses and Business phone numbers are ok).
  • When you post your listing, do not give your home address (Business addresses or City and State are ok).
  • Be careful of scammers requesting that you email any personal information to them (ie:  addresses, bank account information).
  • Arrange the first meeting in a public place.
  • Spend time talking with and getting to know your client.
  • Trust your instincts.  Before you begin working with a client, make sure that you feel comfortable.
